Digitalization processes and sustainability in the agri-food sector

The use of data is increasingly being used by producers and distributors not only to gain a deeper understanding of consumer tastes and habits, but also to make their entire production process efficient and sustainable.

Throughout history, consumption patterns have varied to a greater or lesser extent, depending on the socio-cultural situations around us. However, in recent decades these patterns have undergone a colossal change. This has been due to the arrival of technology in our lives. Consumers increasingly make more and more purchases digitally, demand fresh products at low cost, and require clear and accurate information about what they consume. In the same way, as we digitise, the agri-food sector also needs to digitise. It must meet the demands of increasingly demanding consumers, more quickly and with much more exhaustive control with the need to make processes sustainable and efficient.

One of the solutions is the automation of processes and the use of data by connecting the machines together so that they work efficiently, with much more autonomy and reducing errors. In this way, we achieve greater control over data and process analytics. Efficiency is gained, costs are reduced, and at the same time the level of production and its respective quality is improved.

This symposium brings together all the academic papers that provide research or success stories in the application of these new technologies in the field of agriculture and livestock.
